Mission:
South Central Texas has a large contingency of Southerners who have
a genealogical background in the Old South. It is our desire to encourage
and infuse these progeny of The Grand South with a fresh and revitalized
respect for what their ancestors stood and many died for during the
conflict with the Northern Invaders; in what has come to be known as, the
Civil War. We Southerners are charged by those who came before us to raise
the Banner of Truth as to what the Southern Culture was really like and
present the true character of the principals that shaped our nation’s
history. Because of the government education system, it is not common
knowledge that whoever wins the war gets to impress their culture and
write history.
With the
implications of this in mind, on the weekend of August 29th
2003, an event is shaping up to focus on the Historic South and a Period
Cultural event that is so much more full-orbed in its scope than a
combative reenactment of arms alone can allow.
Theme:
“Our
so-called intellectual class insists that the war was fought over slavery,
pure and simple — an argument which the Southern activist finds himself
responding to with a depressing frequency . . .” --
Professor
Thomas E. Woods, Jr.
Agenda: We have an exciting agenda
coming together and with your help it shall provide a memorable occasion
that will become an annual event scheduled in on calendars months in
advance. Our program offers a variety of interesting theme driven
historical seminars and cultural activities which will touch the hearts
and minds of participants of all ages: those with eyes to see and ears to
hear.
The Premier of the Southern
Historical Conference and Bonnie Blue Ball will be held in the historical
Cibolo Valley VFW Hall, 1000 Hwy 78, Schertz, Texas. The Hall is easy to find
with plenty of free parking, Air Conditioned, and Child Care Service available.
